— Solar Without a Rooftop
Own or subscribe to a share of a solar plant. Its generation is credited straight onto your Delhi electricity bill under Virtual Net Metering (VNM) — no roof, no panels at home, a lower bill from day one.

Virtual Net Metering (VNM) lets you go solar in Delhi even without a rooftop you can use. Instead of panels on your home, you take a share of a shared solar plant, and the electricity it generates is credited to your own BSES / discom bill every month under the DERC net-metering framework. It is built for flats, tenants, shaded roofs, RWAs and institutions — everyone rooftop solar leaves out. Bridgeway Power commissioned Delhi's first Virtual Net Metering plant under BRPL, so your community solar share is backed by the team that pioneered VNM in the city.

What is Virtual Net Metering?
Virtual Net Metering is an arrangement where solar generation from a plant that is not on your own roof is credited to your electricity connection. You hold a share of a larger plant, your discom meters its output, and your allotted units are adjusted against your monthly consumption — exactly as a rooftop system would, but the panels sit elsewhere.
Delhi enables this through the DERC net-metering regulations, which recognise both Group Net Metering and Virtual Net Metering. The credits therefore flow officially through BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna or TPDDL — not through a private side arrangement. For the full walkthrough, read our guide to virtual net metering in Delhi.

How Virtual Net Metering actually works.
Four steps. Nothing on your roof.
Take a share
You take a share of a shared solar plant, sized to your actual yearly usage. Nothing is installed at your home.
We register it
The plant is registered with your discom — BRPL, BYPL or TPDDL — under the DERC net-metering framework.
Credits hit your bill
Your share's units are credited to your electricity bill each month, replacing units you'd have bought at full tariff.
We run it
Lease, generation, maintenance and insurance stay with Bridgeway for the life of the contract.
Virtual Net Metering vs Group Net Metering vs rooftop
Three arrangements that sound alike and solve different problems. If you have no usable roof of your own, VNM is the only one that works.
| Rooftop net metering | Group Net Metering (GNM) | Virtual Net Metering (VNM) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where are the panels? | On your own roof | On one property you own | On a shared plant elsewhere |
| Do you need a roof? | Yes | Yes (one of your properties) | No |
| Best for | Owners with a good roof | One owner, multiple connections | Flats, tenants, shaded roofs, societies |
| Credits flow via | Your own meter | Across your connections | Your bill, from a share of the shared plant |
| Runs under | DERC net metering | DERC group net metering | DERC virtual net metering |

Virtual Net Metering — Your Questions, Answered.
Everything Delhi households ask before taking a community solar share.
Do I need a rooftop to go solar in Delhi?
No. Under Virtual Net Metering you take a share of a shared solar plant located elsewhere, and its generation is credited to your own connection. Nothing is installed at your home — no panels, no inverter, no wiring, no structural work on your roof. It is the route built for flats, tenants and shaded or undersized roofs.
Is Virtual Net Metering legal in Delhi?
Yes. Virtual Net Metering runs through the DERC net-metering regulations, which formally recognise both Group Net Metering and Virtual Net Metering. The plant is metered and the credits are applied by your own discom — BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna or TPDDL — so the arrangement sits inside the official framework, not outside it.
Can tenants and renters use VNM?
Yes. Because nothing is fixed to the property you live in, you do not need roof rights, landlord permission or a structural survey. Renters and flat residents can hold or subscribe to a share and see the credits on their own electricity bill for as long as the connection is in their name.
What happens if I move?
Your allocation is virtual rather than physical, so it can typically be reassigned to your new connection or transferred, depending on the plan and the discom involved. Tell us before you shift and we will run the reallocation with your discom so your credits are not interrupted mid-cycle.
How do I start?
Share your latest electricity bill with us on WhatsApp. We read your monthly consumption and tariff slab, size the right share of the plant against it, and come back with the units credited each month and what your bill looks like afterwards. No site visit and no roof survey are needed to get that number.
