Best solar companies in Delhi NCR — the eight checks that decide it

We install rooftop solar in Delhi NCR, so a ranked list written by us would be worth nothing to you. What we can publish honestly is the method: eight questions with a document behind each one, so you can score every installer you are talking to — including us — on evidence instead of on sales confidence.

    The eight checks

Each one names the artefact that settles it. If a vendor cannot produce the artefact, the answer is not "probably fine" — it is unverified.

    1

Are you empanelled with my specific DISCOM, and what is the number?

Delhi NCR is four regulators deep — BRPL, BYPL and TPDDL inside Delhi, DHBVN in Gurugram and Faridabad, UPPCL in Noida and Ghaziabad. Empanelment is per-DISCOM. A company that files smoothly in Gurugram may have never filed a Noida net-metering application, and the learning happens on your project.

    What settles it

A vendor registration number you can read back to the DISCOM helpdesk, plus the name of the sub-division the last file was cleared in.

    Walk-away answer

"We work all over NCR" without a number. Coverage is a marketing claim; empanelment is a record.

    2

Is the crew on my roof your employee or a subcontractor?

Most residential complaints in this market are not about panels. They are about a subcontracted crew that finished, invoiced, and is unreachable when an inverter faults in year two. Ownership of the crew is what makes the warranty callable.

    What settles it

The name of the site supervisor before you sign, and a written statement of who returns for a service call and within what window.

    Walk-away answer

The salesperson cannot name the installing entity, or the warranty is worded as a manufacturer pass-through only.

    3

Is net-metering filing inside the quoted price, or billed later?

The application, the load sanction check, the bi-directional meter and the inspection follow-up are the slowest part of a rooftop project and the easiest to quietly exclude. A system that is commissioned but not net-metered exports for free.

    What settles it

A line in the quotation that names net-metering filing and meter installation as included scope, with a stated responsibility for follow-up until the meter is energised.

    Walk-away answer

Filing described as "customer to coordinate with DISCOM". That is where projects go dormant.

    4

How exactly does the subsidy reach me, and when?

The central PM Surya Ghar subsidy is disbursed to the consumer's bank account after commissioning and inspection, and state incentives run on their own track. Any vendor who quotes a price with subsidy already deducted is financing your subsidy and pricing that risk into the system.

    What settles it

A quotation that shows gross price, the subsidy you will separately receive, and the net position — as three numbers, not one.

    Walk-away answer

A single "after subsidy" price with no gross figure, or a promise that the subsidy is "adjusted instantly".

    5

What is the mounting structure made of, and at what height?

Structure is where quotes are silently cut. Galvanised-iron versus hot-dip, standard versus elevated, and the ballast design for an RCC roof are the difference between a system that survives a decade of Delhi summers and one that starts leaking through anchor points.

    What settles it

Material, coating spec, clearance height and whether roof penetration or ballast is used — all four, in writing.

    Walk-away answer

"MS structure" with no coating or height stated, especially on a quote that undercuts everyone else.

    6

What generation are you committing to, and what happens if it misses?

A number in a sales deck is not a commitment. Delhi NCR yield is bounded by irradiance, soiling and shading; anyone quoting materially above the local band is either ignoring soiling or has not surveyed your shading.

    What settles it

An annual kWh figure tied to your measured shading, and a written statement of what remedy exists if metered generation falls short.

    Walk-away answer

Generation stated as a flat per-kW figure with no site survey, or refusal to put the number in the contract.

    7

What does year three actually cost me?

Cleaning, inverter diagnostics and monitoring are the recurring cost, and the point at which most buyers discover their installer has no service arm. Soiling alone can take a visible bite out of generation in a Delhi dust season.

    What settles it

A named AMC offering with a price, a visit frequency, and an existing customer you can call — not a promise to "take care of it".

    Walk-away answer

No AMC product at all. A company with no service revenue has no commercial reason to answer the phone in year four.

    8

Will you give me the datasheets, the CIN and the GST number today?

Every legitimate installer can produce module and inverter datasheets, a company identification number and a GST registration within an hour. Delay here predicts delay everywhere else.

    What settles it

Datasheets for the exact SKU being installed — not the brand's flagship — plus CIN and GSTIN you can verify on the MCA and GST portals yourself.

    Walk-away answer

Model numbers that change between the quote and the delivery challan.

    Before you sign anything

Take this list into the third meeting. If a column is blank for a vendor, that is the negotiation — not the price.

    • Three quotations on the same system size, same module wattage class, and same structure height — otherwise you are comparing nothing
    • Gross price, subsidy and net price shown separately on each
    • DISCOM empanelment number for your own DISCOM, from each vendor
    • Written scope line confirming net-metering filing and the bi-directional meter
    • Module and inverter datasheets for the exact SKU quoted
    • Named site supervisor and a stated service-response window
    • An AMC price, so year-three cost is a number and not a surprise
    • One reachable reference customer within your own DISCOM area

Our own answer to check seven

The year-three question is the one installers dislike, so here is ours: we run a standalone AMC business, which is the only reason a service call in year four gets answered. A real customer, running for years, is a better answer than a paragraph.
