BRPL Net Metering Process for Rooftop Solar in Delhi (2026)

BRPL (BSES Rajdhani Power Limited) net metering is the regulatory process by which a rooftop solar system in south and west Delhi is connected to the BRPL grid via a bidirectional meter, allowing the consumer to export surplus generation and receive credit on their electricity bill. The full process — from application to net-meter commissioning — typically takes 30-45 days when paperwork is in order.</br>

BRPL net metering — end-to-end process (6 steps)

    1. 01

      Online application

Apply via BRPL solar portal with CA number, sanctioned load, proposed system size, and uploaded documents (Aadhaar, bill, ownership proof, rooftop photos).

    2. 02

      Technical feasibility study

BRPL engineer inspects the rooftop, transformer loading, and proposed inverter location. Issues TFR (Technical Feasibility Report) — 7-14 days.

    3. 03

      Vendor agreement and installation

Consumer selects a DISCOM-empanelled vendor. Bridgeway is BRPL-empanelled. Installation typically takes 3-5 days.

    4. 04

      Pre-commissioning inspection

BRPL re-inspects the installed system for compliance with safety codes (earthing, lightning arrestor, anti-islanding inverter). Issues clearance.

    5. 05

      Net meter installation

BRPL installs the bidirectional net meter. The existing single-direction meter is removed. 10-20 days from clearance.

    6. 06

      Commissioning certificate

BRPL issues the formal commissioning certificate. The certificate triggers PM Surya Ghar subsidy disbursal via DBT within 30 days.
